Where did the name yapay! come from?

yapay! means "an unexpected gift" in Quechua, a South American proto language. So...now you know where our crazy-sounding name came from.

yapay! got its start as a supplier of "covermounts" to magazine publishers all over the world. A covermount is a free gift that is included with a magazine, usually to help stimulate impulse purchases at news stands and magazine stores.

After a while, it was pointed out to us that the items we were supplying to our initial client base (publishers, distributors and news stand operators) could just as easily be sold to companies looking for toys, premiums and promos.

So we expanded our client focus to include organizations who need these items (basically every company) and then started thinking about a simple, powerful tool to help our prospective customers discover and evaluate our items. We think we have accomplished this with our inventory browser.
